Stock, Retail and Equipment in a Physio Clinic

Most physio clinics sell something at the counter: knee braces, rigid tape, foam rollers, heat packs, pillows. Retail helps patients and adds income, but stock in a cupboard and a notebook is easy to lose track of. This guide explains how stock, retail and equipment work in Clinidiary.

Products on the same invoice

Add a product to the patient's invoice beside their consult: one invoice, one payment. The consult is usually GST-free and the product usually carries GST, each line with its own tax. See invoicing and claims.

Each product has its price, shown with or without GST, and its own tax rate. A new product starts with GST included, because retail generally carries it.

Stock counted per site

Stock is counted per site. A sale comes off the shelf where it was sold, and you can see what is left at each location. See multi-site practices.

Bring your products in

Import products from your current system's stock export, with the tax set correctly on the way in. See switching physio software.

What sells

The Inventory report shows stock and sales, and clinic reports show retail's share of revenue.

Equipment, too

Clinidiary keeps a register of the practice's equipment: treatment tables, ultrasound and TENS units, shockwave, gym equipment and computers. It records where each item is, who has it and when it is due a service, so an overdue electrical safety test does not come as a surprise.
