Running a Hybrid Practice: Clinic Days and Home Visit Days

A hybrid practice, with some days in a clinic room and some on the road, gives you the best of both. Mobile patients who need you at home, and clinic patients who can come to you, with less driving overall. The challenge is keeping the two from tangling into a chaotic week.

Split the week, not the day

Mixing clinic and home visits in one day means rushing between them. Dedicate whole days or half-days: clinic on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings; home visits on Tuesday and Thursday. See a solo physio's week.

Separate services

Make clinic consults and home visits separate services with their own length and price, so patients always book the right one. A home visit service can ask for travel time on each booking. See home visits.

Let the diary enforce the split

Set your working hours by location: clinic hours at the clinic, home visit hours for home visits. Online booking then only offers clinic times on clinic days. See appointment scheduling.

Move patients between the two

A patient who started at home after surgery may move to the clinic as they recover, freeing your home visit slots for those who need them.

Plan home visit days by area

See planning home visit routes.

Use telehealth as a third option

Some reviews need neither the clinic nor the drive. See telehealth.

Frequently asked questions

Can a physio do both clinic and home visits?

Yes. Many do, with set clinic days and set home visit days.

How do I stop patients booking the wrong type of visit?

Make them separate services and set working hours by location, so online booking only offers the right ones.

Is a hybrid practice more profitable?

It can be, by serving both groups of patients while reducing travel on clinic days.
